Day 81 aka "Day 1 of actually living in the house"

Yep, you heard that right. We've slept our first night in the house and, with the help of some dear friends (thanks, Jesse and Jess!), 99% of our stuff is here with us. I don't have much of an update for you since the past week has been mostly packing and getting ready for the move, which happened yesterday. The skies were blue and the temperature was mild-warm - pretty much perfect moving weather. Moving isn't very exciting so I don't have any photos from that. I do have a funny one post-move. Let's play a game called "find the sofa hidden amongst the wood panelling and dark fir trim."

Couch camouflage.
Apparently we have quite a lot of wood and wood-coloured furniture. Combined with the unpainted trim, wood panelling, orangey-yellow wallpaper, and beige carpets, it really looks like The Lorax threw up in our living and dining room. I think the first order of business once we finish with the draftproofing and toilet installations (ecoENERGY deadline: March 31) will be to paint the wood paneling to lighten up the space.

A quick garden update: a few of the plants have been identified thanks to some knowledgeable friends and family. We'll do a longer post on the garden once we know more but, in the meantime, here are a couple of shots of some no-longer-mysterious friends.

Vinca minor (identified by Tiff). This was the shady ground cover one - now flowering! Bleeding Heart (identified by Gail). This was the purple-y one.

These were taken on Saturday and walking around yesterday we already noticed quite a few more blooms. We've even got a daffodil that's come up amongst the previously identified Lily of the Valley patch so we'll have to keep an eye on those to see if we mistook one for the other.
